The NDIS is Australia’s first national scheme for people with disability. It provides funding to individuals and takes a lifetime approach, investing early in people with disability to improve their outcomes later in life.

What is the NDIS?

The National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) is an Australia-wide, government funded scheme that delivers supports and services to people with disability.

Launched in 2013, the NDIS is the first scheme of its kind in Australia. When it is fully rolled out, it is estimated the Scheme will provide funding for supports and services to about 460,000 Australians with disability.

Am I Eligible?

If you are aged between 7 and 65, a local area coordinator can help you to understand the NDIS, apply and connect with other government and community supports.

If you have a child aged under 7, an early childhood partner can provide supports to children before they apply, and let families know if the NDIS is right for their child.

How to Apply

If you think you might be eligible and want to apply:

make a verbal application by calling NDIS on 1800 800 110 complete an Access Request Form and return it to us

If you need help to apply, please contact your local area coordinator, early childhood partner or NDIA office.

If you are eligible for the NDIS and have received an ‘access decision’ letter, the next step is creating your NDIS plan.
